REIKI

Reiki is a Japanese form of alternative medicine that was founded by Dr Mikao Usui. In 1922, Usui opened the first Reiki clinic in Tokyo. He not only had an interest in medicine, but also in psychology and theology.

The word Reiki is from the Japanese word (Rei) which means “Universal Life” and (Ki) which means “Energy”. It is a subtle and effective form of life force energy work that is spiritually guided using hands on healing and sacred symbols.

A treatment feels like a wonderful warm glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit - creating many beneficial effects that include increased relaxation, feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.

Most commonly Reiki is used to ease pain, and decrease stress, anxiety, fatigue and depression. When your chakras are balanced they support the body to facilitate an environment for healing on all levels.

In Australia, Reiki is currently being provided in many hospitals, nursing homes, palliative care hospices, and community service settings. In the USA, more than 800 hospitals have integrated Reiki into their settings. In Melbourne, Peter Mac hospital has wellbeing services that include massage, meditation and also Reiki intended for patients to relax, and find a quiet moment to breathe in a busy hospital environment.

Reiki is safe and is a natural healing energy system that promotes balance to your mind, body and spirit, leaving you lighter, healthier and happier.

SHAMANIC HEALING

The word Shaman, comes from the Tungus tribe in Siberia and means “one who sees in the dark.”

Shamanism is the oldest spiritual practice in the world. Archaeological evidence shows the practice dates back at least 40,000 years and is not based on faith in a particular God, but rather based on animism - the belief that everything is living and has a spirit.

Shamanic Healing is the process where the practitioner enters the earth and sky realms of healing, through the use of drumming, rattles, crystals, oils, sage and feathers. While using these tools, and by asking our animal guides along with spirit, it assists to see what is needed in the healing. It is about your soul’s health and wellbeing.

I think we can all learn something from The Four Laws of a Shaman (Author unknown)

1. "The person who comes into our life is the right person"

No one comes into our life by chance. They are here for a reason, a lesson or a lifetime.

2. "What happens is the only thing that could have happened"

Absolutely nothing that happens in our life could have been otherwise. Accept it, and don't think "if I'd only done that".

3. "Anytime it starts is the right time"

That's right - trust in divine timing. Everything starts at the right time, the right moment. Not before, not after. When we are ready for something new to come into our lives, only then, is when it will begin.

4. "When something ends, it ends"

If something ends in our life, it is for our growth, and you can move forward enriched by the experience.

It is not by chance that you have read this.... Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is part of life, and standing up again is living. I hope you find peace in your heart and trust that you are exactly who you are meant to be. Never forget the infinite possibilities that arise from trusting in yourself. May this knowledge be in your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance and love.

AS WITHIN, SO WITHOUT.

SOUND HEALING

Sound has been used as a healing method for thousands of years. Indigenous Australian’s used ancient didgeridoos in healing rituals. Monks use singing bowls in spiritual healing ceremonies. Native American’s know the drum rhythm facilitates healing and realignment of the four realms of human existence: mental, spiritual, emotional and physical.

Sounds are vibrations, and everything in the universe has a vibrational frequency. The vibrations made by instruments or vocals can interact with your body's cells to create specific results to encourage healing and wellbeing.

Sound is with us in every moment of every day and can therefore have both a positive and negative cause and effect upon the body, mind and spirit.

Consider how sound affects your own day? If you are in nature and can hear birds, or sit and listen to the sound of waves crashing on the shore, it can change your whole mood and help you feel more relaxed. Whereas, if you can hear loud hammering, or someone's voice is at a volume that makes you cringe... that can have an unpleasant effect on your mood.

Sound therapy uses sound vibrations to relax the body and mind, leading to many benefits that support healing... and sound healing is enjoyable - it speaks to your soul. Harmony and balance can trigger the relaxation effect, which in turn reduces stress. By reducing stress, this in turn reduces physical illness.
